This is a very complicated issue. I hate to see it reduced to 30-second sound bites.

There's a legitimate property right on both sides, but we don't want to tilt the balance so far that we lose the mineral right. I don't think this nation is going to allow one of the few bright spots of growth in gas production to go by the wayside for that.

We're willing to pay the surface owner to exercise our existing property to right to the reasonable use of the surface to access the minerals. That's a property right we own, that we paid for, acquired.
